Embarking on a study abroad experience can be one of the most rewarding experiences of your college career. Whether you decide to study abroad for a summer, a semester, or a year, you will return to Utah Tech with a global perspective that cannot be taught in the classroom. Not only will you learn about another country, but you will gain a new outlook on your own culture and community. Utah Tech provides a variety of study abroad opportunities that allow you to travel abroad while gaining academic credit:
Faculty-Led Programs: These trips led by a Utah Tech professor vary in length from one week to two months and are usually held over the summer break. Because these are Utah Tech courses, they fit easily into a student’s degree plan. On most of these programs, you will be with the same group of students and the professor will plan most activities. This makes faculty-led programs a good choice for students who may be going abroad for the first time or who do not want to spend a long period away from campus.
Exchange Programs: Reciprocal in nature, an exchange program offers students the opportunity to switch places with a student in another part of the world while still only paying tuition and fees at Utah Tech. Students study abroad at an international institution for a semester or year depending on program options.
Affiliate Programs: Utah Tech works in collaboration with third-party providers to offer study abroad programs around the world. These programs vary in length from a summer, semester, or an entire year. Classes typically take place at a foreign university or an academic center administered by the provider. Before departure, you will work in conjunction with the Study Abroad Office and the third- party provider to choose classes that will directly transfer to your Utah Tech degree.
