Utah Tech University’s Institute of Politics and Public Affairs serves the campus and community as a hub for civic engagement, student leadership, and public policy education and research. Its core mission is to inspire students to be better citizens, pursue careers in public service, and connect them with policymakers, politicians, activists, and academics.
The Institute hosts various events, from debates to public forums, voter drives, and information campaigns, that promote political discussion, education, and involvement on campus. The Institute ensures that the university plays a more active role in Southern Utah’s civic environment, and spotlights and addresses key policy issues unique to Utah and Washington County. The Institute is largely student run, with scholarship opportunities for students interested in public policy and internships in St. George, Salt Lake City, and Washington, D.C.
