Bachelor of Applied Studies (BAP) in Accounting/Master of Accountancy Dual Track

Program Description

The Bachelor of Applied Studies (BAP) in Accounting/Master of Accountancy dual program at Utah Tech University is a workforce-focused, applied pathway designed to prepare students for immediate employment in corporate, government, nonprofit, and small-business settings. The program uses an integrated 3+1 model that allows students to earn both degrees within four years by moving seamlessly from undergraduate coursework into bridge courses and then the master’s program.

A defining feature of the BAS/MAcc pathway is the inclusion of four dedicated bridge courses that connect upper-division undergraduate study with graduate-level accounting content. These courses develop advanced competencies and provide the academic preparation needed for CPA licensure and other professional exams. The curriculum emphasizes applied learning in financial and managerial accounting, taxation, auditing, data analytics, and accounting information systems, supported by case studies, applied projects, and professional communication assignments. This streamlined structure enables accelerated entry into the workforce. This program would be the first 122-credit dual-degree accounting program in Utah and one of the first at Utah Tech University to utilize USHE’s newly approved 90-credit bachelor’s degree framework. By pairing a streamlined bachelor’s degree with a +1 master’s pathway, Utah Tech positions itself as a leader in accelerated, applied business education.

Admission Requirements

Students would apply for the accelerated BAP/MAcc program at the end of their sophomore year or the start of their junior year. Students could apply for enrollment in the program in either the Fall or Spring semester, with application deadlines similar to those in our existing MAcc program.
